Davenport Native and Best-Selling Author Randy Wayne White to Visit QC

Thanks to a grant from the Scott County Regional Authority, the Midwest Writing Center is excited to bring Davenport native and New York Times best-selling author Randy Wayne White back to the Quad Cities. White will serve as the keynote speaker at MWC's Literary Awards Banquet on March 16th at The Outing Club. The event will include dinner and a celebration of the literary arts in the Quad Cities. Cost for this event is $40 and reservations are due by March 11th. A cocktail hour with a cash bar starts at 6 p.m with dinner served at 7 p.m.

MIDWEST WRITING CENTER TO OFFER GRANT WRITING WORKSHOP

 

On March 9th from 1 to 3 p.m., the Midwest Writing Center is offering a valuable workshop on the subject of grant writing. Teresa LaBella will lead the workshop which will address finding grant funding sources, the grant review process, and building partnerships. It is designed for those who are planning to write a grant, are writing a grant for the first time, or have written a grant that was not funded. It will detail the steps to funding success from the letter of inquiry to the case statement. Entry to mid-level development professionals, startup self-employed fundraising executives, and individual artists seeking to kick start a creative career are encouraged to attend.

All writers in and around the Quad Cities are invited to Midwest Writing Center’s first QC Writers Social Hour event on Thursday, February 28th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Lounge Area at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Davenport at 111 E. 2nd Street. The social hour will provide an opportunity for writers to spend time with each other, swap stories and tips, and spread goodwill among their fellow writers. All writers of any genre, skill, or experience level are invited. There is no charge to attend this event and registration is not required. Drinks will be available for purchase in the lounge.
