Crowd reacts to the President’s speech

It seemed from the crowd’s reaction Wednesday night at the Village of East Davenport that the President can feel encouraged that they will have his back in November.  It doesn’t come without some criticism of his current term and strong expectations for the future though.

President Obama talked about tax cuts, the economy and education during his visit, but he also spent a lot of time asking the crowd for four more years.

“I told you 4 years ago, don’t look for quick fixes,” he says.  “We didn’t get into this overnight, we aren’t going to solve it overnight.”

The crowd of supporters acknowledged the President has plenty of room for improvement.  Supporter, Katy Harle says she understands the President has tried.

“He has done a lot of things but of course there’s a long way to go,” she says.

But they say they are encouraged to move forward and past the negative.

Supporter LaDrina Wilson said, “We are living the negative, we’ve been living in a down economy.  There is definitely room for improvement and I think the President acknowledging that and telling us that’s he is dedicated to making it better is the way to go.”

Supporters say they said they are sticking with the President this election and voting against the alternative.

“If the other group gets in, I don’t think they are going to be very successful and I think Obama has the right idea,” Harle adds.

She also says she hopes four more years will make the difference.
